Presentation on Access to Medicaid

Judy Waxman and Liz Patchias of the National Women's Law Center flew down from DC for this meeting, briefed us on issues in Medicaid Access, and led a discussion of what NC Women United could be doing on the issues surrounding Medicaid, including eliminating barriers to improve the percentage of eligible women who enroll.

The discussion centered on how NWLC and NCWU can work together to make progress on this issue, with a particular emphasis on improving public awareness.

The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation was mentioned as having a tool kit for publicizing issues.

Florence Glasser, on the board of the NC Editorial Forum (the local presence of the American Forum) which works to get unreported and underreported stories into 2700 media outlets across the state. A brief written by NWLC could be distributed through the NC Editorial Forum.

The group agreed that it was appropriate to share our membership directory with NWLC.
