NC Women United is proud to co-sponsor a film screening of Miss Representation on November 29 in Durham. The documentary Miss Representation, by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and aired on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in October.
This powerful new documentary explores how the media’s misrepresentation of women has led to the under representation of women in positions of power and influence. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.
We are delighted to partner with several of our member organizations including Ipas, Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-choice NC, and many other community allies to bring this important film to the Triangle.
The Miss Representation screening will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at Motorco at 723 Rigsbee Avenue in Durham. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00pm and film will begin at 7:00pm. Check out the Facebook event and help
us spread the word!
