Open Enrollment Period for the ACA Ends March 31 – Get Covered!

Open enrollment for insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) ends March 31. If you haven’t signed up yet, there is still time. And if you have questions about the process, help is available right here in North Carolina! Although the NC General Assembly opted neither to expand Medicaid nor create a state health marketplace, North Carolina is still enrolling people at a high rate. That is partly due to the work of the community organizations who have stepped up to help their fellow North Carolinians navigate the system and get covered.

Three of those organizations enrolling North Carolinians are NCWU members—Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina, Planned Parenthood of North Carolina Health Systems, and local chapters of the League of Women Voters North Carolina. And you can still call on them for help!

The LWV is still holding ACA information sessions through the end of March at the Chapel Hill Library (100 Library Drive) at the following times: Mondays 5pm-8pm; Tuesdays 10am-1pm, Thursdays 2pm-5pm, and Saturdays 1pm-4pm. They are also holding an all-day enrollment session on March 24th (10am-8pm).  Appointments are not necessary, but if desired, call 919-968-2780.

Planned Parenthood clinics are also a site for help during the enrollment clinic. Call your local clinic to learn more about what they can offer, including information sessions, and also how you can help volunteer with their enrollment efforts!

We’ve already written about the many benefits for women under the ACA, and with access to health care one of our core issues, we want to make sure the women of NC know all options available to them. Thanks to these members, and everyone in the community, who has been working hard to help us all get covered!
